Realising potential

How do you instil confidence and self-belief in someone who's struggling on the journey back to work? Wear for Success provides professional clothing and work skills training to provide people with the best possible chance of achieving their dreams.

Everyone has potential. Wear for Success helps them find it. If we can engender confidence in people by helping them look and feel the part on their journey towards employment, then we’ve done our job.

Wear for Success commenced in 2011 and is a not-for-profit organisation run by a dedicated group of volunteers and management team, including a volunteer Board. Since then we have helped over 2,500 people needing support on their journey back to work. We are a registered charity and donations to us over $2 are tax deductible.

Our Services

Making a favourable impression at the interview stage of a new career is crucial for on-going confidence and potential success. Through a positive outcome emerges someone who is once again able to stand on their own feet and achieve considerable life change.

Our services are delivered to a broad cross-section of people who are recommended to us by referral agencies. Their individual situations are varied, but they all require caring support to regain the confidence they need to find employment. They include the long term unemployed, migrants, people with mental health issues, indigenous Australians and young people.

clothes fitting

Work-appropriate clothing to attend job interviews is personally selected by a trained volunteer stylist in a 1-hour fitting. it’s a truly transformational session that inspires new confidence in our clients. We also provide tips on styling and grooming to present well at an interview.

follow up fitting

Extra clothing and accessories are provided once a client has found employment. That way they can start their new role with a variety of outfits to help them look and feel their absolute best.

career support Training

Training programs take place in our onsite training centre, which is generously funded by Accenture. Delivered by professional volunteer corporate trainers, topics include resume writing, interview preparation, managing finances, computer basics and much more. work it out

This special program supports the young unemployed with training to get into work. We are supported in the delivery of this unique program by funding from some very generous donors including the John and Betty Laidlaw Legacy.

preparing for work & beyond

We run a program to prepare for employment and beyond, for humanitarian migrants, refugees and CALD men and women in Melbourne. It includes work related clothing, one on one career coaching and support, with the program funded by the City of Melbourne.

tailored programs

We have been honoured to work closely with The Peter Mac ONTrack program, Brotherhood of St Laurence Given the Chance Program and Youth Transitions Program, WCIG Stepping Forward Program, Go Girls Foundation Step Up and Go Program, and AMES Workskills Program, amongst others.

Support Us

We receive no federal or state government funding. Like all organisations, we need to pay rent and other overheads, as well as purchase clothing in difficult to find sizes.

Donations of money are always welcome.
